Senior Citizen Program

Senior Wellness Centers

BRAD operates four Senior Wellness Centers across Clay, Lawrence, and Randolph counties, each serving as a community hub for health and wellness services aimed at seniors. These centers are open five days a week and are designed to support the well-being of older adults.

Services Provided

Our Senior Wellness Centers offer a range of services to support the overall health and well-being of older adults. These include essential transportation to various destinations, support through the Elderchoices program for those needing home-based care, and a variety of engaging social and recreational activities. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support that fosters both physical health and social interaction for seniors in our community.

Congregate and Homebound Meals

Our meal programs ensure that seniors receive the nutrition they need to maintain their health. At our Senior Wellness Centers, hot, nutritious noon meals are served daily. Each meal meets one-third of the daily recommended dietary allowance, and regular nutrition education programs are offered to help participants make informed dietary choices. For those who are unable to attend the centers, we provide homebound meals delivered directly to their homes. These meals also meet the same nutritional standards and come with nutrition education materials to support healthy eating at home.

Central Kitchen

Located at 1302 Pace Road in Pocahontas, our Central Kitchen plays a crucial role in preparing the meals served at our Senior Wellness Centers. The kitchen ensures that all meals are USDA-approved and meet the nutritional needs of seniors, adhering to one-third of the daily recommended dietary allowance.

Transportation

Our transportation service is designed to help seniors get where they need to go. This includes trips to Senior Wellness Centers, medical facilities, social services, social security offices, and for shopping needs. We provide group transportation to make it easier for seniors to access essential services and participate in community activities

Elder Choices

The Elderchoices program aims to assist elderly individuals in remaining in their homes or with relatives, as an alternative to nursing home placement. This program provides support to help seniors live independently while receiving the care they need in a familiar environment.

Social & Recreational Activities

Our Senior Wellness Centers offer a variety of social and recreational activities to keep seniors engaged and active. These activities include arts and crafts, table games, music, exercise classes, and educational programs. We also organize out-of-town trips such as charter bus tours to museums and sightseeing excursions. These activities are designed to promote social interaction and enrich the lives of older adults.
